Stuck In The Gush

When the wind blows, the tree leaves bristle on guard against the gust, it's common knowledge, that's just the way things go. When your mind sways, your arm hair bristle, it's common knowledge, that's just the way things go. A pebble in a stream doesn't stop the water's flow, it only breaks its path; I guess that's the way things go as well. There's no fighting the way, there's no hope in changing the way things go.

At the worst of times, a gush of electricity mounts up to your brain, it doesn't upset you it just paralyzes you. You look around to see if anything's changed, and most of the time nothing's changed. And so you look interiorly, what triggered that electrical shock? You close your eyes as the after-ripples begin to hit, and your fingertips begin to shake, but not shaking violently; it's a quiet tremble. With your eyes shut still, you try to talk to yourself but you can't, even your inside voice is gasping for air; that's just the way things go.

In the heat of the worst times, you find a way to move your legs, you shift, pivot, stand, walk, and then lay down; in that order. Lightbulbs planted on your ceiling, your window wide-open, you keep reminding yourself of what is really there. However, the tremors are getting stronger, keeping a mental thread is difficult enough so you close your eyes again. With the void of your mind expanding far beyond the boundaries of imaginary and real, your cognitive subjectivity disappears and you can only recognize the agonizing shake of your body. The tremble that persists, and your inability to distinguish from here and not, from in here to out there torments your soul; you're stuck in the gush. You clench your body in the hopes you convince yourself that you're truly there, but it doesn't help. Undeniably, you've sunken to the deepest depth, and you've got no choice but to wait it out; that's just the way things go.

Finally materializing in the confines of space and time, you open your eyes to a dimmer room than earlier, you recognize your body, your mind and your senses, and it seems like you survived another gust of wind. You look at the clock, this time it only lasted two hours, you look at your feet, you shift, stand, walk and then sit down; in that order. You look outside and you see the same world that stood there before you disappeared into the void. You see the sun, you see the clouds, you see the tree leaves bristle against the wind; I guess that's just the way things go.
